Transport
Prague trams suspended between Anděl and Smíchov until 18 October 2026
Published
Trams do not run between Anděl and Smíchovské nádraží (Smíchov train station) from Saturday 3 October to Sunday 18 October 2026. According to PID, the Prague integrated transport authority, the closure covers the final stage of work on the railway bridge over Nádražní street, as the national rail infrastructure manager replaces the bridge's southern span. Tram lines 5, 12, 15, 20, 21 and 94 are affected in this section.
What it means for your trip
- Use metro line B instead. PID recommends metro trains between Smíchovské nádraží and Anděl as the main alternative for this stretch.
- Replacement buses also run. Daytime bus X12 follows the route Anděl, Na Knížecí, Smíchovské nádraží; night bus X90 covers the same corridor.
- Standard tickets apply. Any valid PID ticket or travel card works on the replacement buses and on the metro, exactly as on the suspended trams.
- Build in extra time if your hotel, a tour pick-up point or an airport transfer stop is near Anděl or Smíchovské nádraží between 3 and 18 October 2026.
- Staying in Smíchov or around Anděl? Our Prague neighbourhoods guide has practical notes on getting around from there.
If you would rather skip the disruption altogether, we arrange a private driver who can plan around the closed section for transfers, day trips or touring during these dates.
