Czech Philharmonic New Year's concerts at the Rudolfinum, 31 Dec and 1 Jan

The Czech Philharmonic will see out 2026 and welcome 2027 with its New Year's concerts in the Dvořák Hall of the Rudolfinum, Alšovo nábřeží 12 in Prague 1. Vasily Petrenko conducts, with soprano Simona Šaturová and violinist Jan Mráček as soloists. There are four performances: 31 December 2026 at 11:00 (listed by the orchestra as the dress rehearsal) and 15:00, and 1 January 2027 at 15:00 and 20:00, the evening one being the New Year's Gala Concert. Host Marek Eben appears only on 1 January 2027. The concerts are held in cooperation with the Prague Sounds festival.

What it means for your trip

  • A one-hour programme: according to the Czech Philharmonic, the concert lasts about an hour, with works by Mozart, Beethoven (Leonore Overture No. 3), Kreisler, Massenet and Gounod, ending with Dukas's The Sorcerer's Apprentice.
  • Daytime options: three of the four performances are in the daytime, at 11:00 or 15:00, which leaves the evening of 31 December free for other plans.
  • Dress code: the organiser asks for smart casual at the 31 December concerts and the 1 January afternoon concert, and formal attire at the 20:00 New Year's Gala.
  • Tickets: they are sold online on the Czech Philharmonic website and at the Rudolfinum box office.
