Petřín funicular runs again from 22 September 2026, with new cars

The funicular up Petřín hill is carrying passengers again. The Prague public transport company DPP started trial operation with passengers on Tuesday 22 September 2026. The line had been out of service since September 2024, when extreme rainfall damaged the track and the whole Petřín slope. It has been completely rebuilt and now runs with new fourth-generation cars that have more glass and better views. The funicular climbs 126 metres from Újezd via Nebozízek to the top station on Petřín, and the ride takes just over three minutes.

What it means for your trip

• Hours: every day from 07:00 to 22:15, with a departure every 10 minutes.
• A special fare: the funicular has its own non-transferable single ticket at 100 CZK, or 90 CZK in the PID Lítačka app. There is no discounted single fare.
• Passes that are valid: a 24-hour or 72-hour ticket for Prague, a long-term Prague travel pass and the Prague Visitor Pass. If you plan several rides that day, a 24-hour ticket may be the better buy.
• Getting there: the lower station is at the Újezd tram stop, served by trams 9, 12, 15, 20, 22 and 23.
• Trial operation: DPP runs the line in trial operation for now, so check pid.cz before you set off.
