Free entry to Prague museums and landmarks on 28 October 2026

Wednesday 28 October 2026 is Independent Czechoslovak State Day, a Czech public holiday, and several of Prague's museums, galleries and historic buildings open free of charge for the occasion, some with rooms that are normally closed to visitors.

What it means for your trip

  • The National Gallery Prague offers free admission to its permanent collections on 28 October 2026.
  • The National Museum's main historical building and most of its branch museums are free from 10:00 to 18:00; a few exhibits, including Czech Press Photo and the Children's Museum, are not included.
  • The Senate opens the Wallenstein Palace and Wallenstein Garden free from 9:00 to 18:00, including the Main Hall, Knights' Hall, Audience Hall and Mythological Corridor, plus the Meeting Hall and Kolovrat Palace, which are not normally open to the public.
  • Prague City Hall opens the New Town Hall, Clam-Gallas Palace, the Mayor's Residence and the Škoda Salons free from 10:00 to 18:00.
  • The Municipal House opens its first-floor representational halls free from 9:00 to 15:00, with last admission at 14:40.

Opening hours and included rooms differ by venue, so check each one before you go. If you would rather see Prague Castle and the Old Town with a licensed guide, our private Prague Castle and Old Town tour runs year round, and our trip planner can help you fit 28 October into a longer stay.
