Few cities have as much music in their streets as Prague. Mozart found his most enthusiastic audience here, Smetana wrote the river into his most famous symphonic poem, and Dvořák took Czech music to the world. This tour visits their places by day and ends where the music still plays at night.

Three composers, one city

Mozart came to Prague in 1787, when The Marriage of Figaro was the talk of the town, and conducted the premiere of Don Giovanni at the Estates Theatre that autumn. The theatre still stands and still stages his operas. Smetana's Má vlast opens the Prague Spring festival every year in the Smetana Hall of the Municipal House, a masterpiece of Art Nouveau. Dvořák's music is at home in the Rudolfinum, where the Czech Philharmonic plays, and in the museum at Villa Amerika, which keeps his piano and his personal belongings.

Prague has concerts every night, but they differ a lot in quality.
