About this tour
Prague Castle is not one building but a whole district of palaces, churches, courtyards and gardens, and it has been the seat of Czech rulers for more than a thousand years. Most visitors see the courtyards and the cathedral in an hour. This tour takes the time to go inside and understand what you are looking at.
Inside the castle, in the right order
Your licensed guide plans the visit around the opening hours and the crowds. The cathedral comes first, before the queues build up, then the Old Royal Palace with its vast Vladislav Hall, the Romanesque basilica of St George and Golden Lane. From April to October the tour ends in the gardens below the castle walls, with views over the red roofs of the Lesser Town.
The stories connect the rooms: the saint and prince Wenceslas, the emperor Charles IV who built the cathedral, the Habsburgs, the defenestration that started a European war, and the presidents who work in the castle today.
Tickets and timing
The courtyards are free, but the interiors need the Main Circuit ticket. We book the tickets in advance and list them in your quote. On Sundays the cathedral opens only at 12:00 because of the services, so we plan the order of the visits for the day you choose.

How is this different from the Castle and Old Town walk?
This tour spends all its time inside the castle, with the main interiors and the gardens. The Castle and Old Town walk covers the castle more briefly and continues down to Charles Bridge and the Old Town.
Are the tickets included?
Tickets are listed separately in your quote. We book them in advance for your time slot, so there is no waiting at the ticket office.
Is the tour suitable for older travellers?
Yes. The courtyards are largely level, and a car to the northern entrance avoids the climb. Some interiors have steps, and your guide plans breaks along the way.
When is the best time to visit?
Early. The courtyards are quiet before 9:00, and starting when the buildings open keeps you ahead of the tour groups.
